Research in the group aims at the preparation of chiral salts and ylides, and their use in synthetic (asymmetric) chemistry in a broad sense. Recent progress on metal-catalyzed reactions will be presented – and those involving ylide intermediates and then functionally rich heterocyclic derivatives in particular. Studies on the synthesis and properties of cationic [4] and [6]helicenes will be also highlighted along with strategies to fine-tune many properties, including chiroptical.
