General

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am pleased to inform you about the upcoming 25th Tateshina Conference on Organic Chemistry. The conference will take place from Friday, November 14 to Sunday, November 16, 2025, at the Shirakaba Resort Ikenotaira Hotel in Tateshina, Nagano Prefecture. While the conference was held in June last year, this year marks a return to our traditional late-autumn schedule. The venue, beautifully located on the shores of Lake Shirakaba, is well-known for its tranquil landscape surrounded by sky, mountains, and water. We hope that you will enjoy this 48-hour conference of science and discussion in such a serene setting.

This year, we are honored to host an exceptional lineup of speakers, including:
• Professor Varinder Kumar Aggarwal (University of Bristol, UK)
• Professor Thomas Carell (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, Germany)
• Professor Li Deng (Westlake University, China)
• Professor Ken Tanaka (Science Tokyo, Japan)
• Dr. Takashi Owa (Eisai Co., Ltd., Japan)
• Professor Amy Weeks (University of Wisconsin–Madison, USA)

The invited presentations will cover a broad range of cutting-edge research topics, including boron-mediated organic synthesis, nucleic acid chemistry, chemical biology, chiral organocatalysis, organometallics and photochemistry, π-conjugated macrocycles, pharmaceutical chemistry, and post-translational protein modifications.
As in previous years, the conference will bring together approximately 70 researchers, ranging from early-career scientists to senior members of national academies, primarily from Asia, including China, Taiwan, and South Korea.
Professor Eiichi Nakamura founded the Tateshina Conference in 2000, and Professor Shū Kobayashi served as chair from 2011 to 2023. I have had the privilege of serving as Chair of this conference since 2024. Together with the organizing committee, we are dedicated to making this event stimulating, enjoyable, and memorable for all participants.
The conference will begin at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 14, and conclude at noon on Sunday, November 16. Further details, including the full program, transportation options, and registration procedures, will be shared in due course.
We warmly look forward to your participation.

Yours sincerely,

Hiroki Oguri
