General

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am pleased to inform you about the upcoming 26th Tateshina Conference on Organic Chemistry. The conference will take place from Friday, November 13 to Sunday, November 15, 2026, at the Ikenotaira Hotel & Resorts in Tateshina, Nagano Prefecture. Continuing our traditional late-autumn schedule, the conference will be held in the beautiful surroundings of Lake Shirakaba, where sky, mountains, and water create a tranquil and inspiring atmosphere. We hope that you will enjoy this 48-hour conference of science and discussion in such a serene setting.

This year, we are honored to host an exceptional lineup of speakers, including:

• Professor Itaru Hamachi (Kyoto University, Japan)
• Professor Dean Toste (University of California, Berkeley, USA)
• Professor Shu-Li You (Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, China)
• Professor Ryan Shenvi (Scripps Research, USA)
• Professor Fumihiko Shimizu (Shionogi & Co., Ltd., Japan)
• Professor Michel Rickhaus (University of Zurich, Switzerland)

The invited presentations will cover a broad range of cutting-edge research topics in organic chemistry, including synthetic methodology, catalysis, chemical biology, molecular design, pharmaceutical chemistry, and related interdisciplinary fields.

As in previous years, the conference will bring together approximately 70 researchers, ranging from early-career scientists to senior members of national academies, primarily from Asia, including China, Taiwan, and South Korea.

Professor Eiichi Nakamura founded the Tateshina Conference in 2000, and Professor Shū Kobayashi served as chair from 2011 to 2023. I have had the privilege of serving as Chair of this conference since 2024. Together with the organizing committee, we are dedicated to making this event stimulating, enjoyable, and memorable for all participants.

The conference will begin at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 13, and conclude at noon on Sunday, November 15. Further details, including the full program, transportation options, and registration procedures, will be shared in due course.

We warmly look forward to your participation.

Yours sincerely,

Hiroki Oguri
