Haruyuki Makio (Mitsui Chemicals)

Haruyuki Makio received his Bachelors, Masters and Ph.D. degrees in Polymer Chemistry from Kyoto University. He joined Mitsui Petrochemical Industries (now Mitsui Chemicals) in 1992. In 1999–2001, he was a visiting scholar under Professor Tobin Marks at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. Since 2011, he has been a General Manager at the Mitsui Chemicals Singapore R&D Centre. His research interests include polymer synthesis, organometallic chemistry, and olefin polymerization catalysis and he and his team are currently focusing on the development and applications of advanced polymeric, inorganic, and hybrid materials and the transformation of gas to chemical feedstock using heterogeneous catalysts.
